SATURDAY STORY - MAX ZINN - EPISODE 8

 MAX8 - MAX ZINN - OLIVE GROWER

Max Zinn decided it was time to act - to “take the bull by the horns,” if you will.

He called Louise Larkner, who picked up his call on the second ring.

“Good Morning, Max,” was her cheery answer. “What’s up?”

“Good Morning, Louise. How are things with you?”

Louise answered, “I am doing well. We finished the olive symposium and are working toward finishing the semester.”

Max reached the point, “Louise, I’d like to have dinner with you - as a date.    What might work this coming weekend?”

Louise stifled a laugh. She thought this might be coming soon.

“Max, I appreciate you, but I’m already taken. I’m a lesbian, and my partner is Inez Sanchez.”

Max was silent for a second. He hadn’t thought of Louise as a lesbian. He replied, “I’m sorry, Louise, I didn’t know that. Boy, am I naive?”

Louise thought of a good retort - like “Yup, Max, you are so very naive,” but she didn’t respond that way.

“Inez and I have been partners for three years. She is a graduate student in women’s studies and is working on her dissertation. We generally don’t flaunt our relationship.”

Max said, “Thank you for being so open with me. I do appreciate you - and blessings upon you and Inez!!! Maybe Inez can join you sometime when you are up here. You have a great day.”

Louise said, “Thank you, Max. I appreciate you. Maybe you can be a guest lecturer in my graduate olive growing class. You can talk about EVOO and your new cold press operations.”

Max answered, “That sounds great. Pick a date and time, and I’ll get it on my schedule”.

Louise added, “We can have lunch in the executive dining room - and have Inez join us.”

Max answered, “That would be great.”

They ended their call, and Max sat back in his chair. He hadn’t seen that coming.

Oh well, he thought.

*****

Later that evening, Max called his sister, Maria.

Maria was surprised to hear Max on the line. They communicated almost always by text or email and rarely by telephone.

They chatted about the olive farm and Maria’s work at a Montessori School.

Max told Maria that Dad had been out to California for the Olive Symposium and had mentioned that he and Mom were separating.

Maria laughed outloud.

“Is that what you are calling about, Max,” Maria retorted. “Dad got tired of Sister Mary Graziela Zinn praying her rosary in the bedroom and doing novenas for him. She’s staying at a convent (or is it a monastery) in Italy while helping with Grandma. She’s gotten into her religion, attends Latin Mass, and spends two hours daily in the chapel. Last spring, Dad had some meat on a Friday during Lent, and that seemingly set her off. He apologized to her. I heard that she said he was going to hell and that she would pray for him.

Maria continued, “I like my faith; I grew up loving God - a merciful, forgiving, and loving God, but Mom’s just gotten to be too much.”

Max also laughed, “Yes, I can see that in Mom.”

They chatted more, and Max, satisfied that there wasn’t some affair between Dad and some secretary, finally said ‘goodbye’ to his sister.

He had mental images of their Mom dressed as Sister Mary Graziella Zinn. He remembered when Mom made him a priest for Halloween.

*****

That night at dinner, Louise shared Max’s phone call with Inez.

Louise said, “Max Zinn called me today and asked me on a date. I told him I was in a wonderful relationship with you.”

Inez laughed.

Louise continued, “I think it’s been on his mind for a while. I think he wanted to ask me out but couldn’t get the nerve up.

They laughed together. Theirs was a happy relationship, and Louise didn’t want it anyway else.

*****

Tina Martinez got a phone call from her cousin, Marta, in Sacramento.

Marta asked, “Hey, Babe, I’ve got an extra ticket to the Monica Bellucci show this Saturday night in Sacramento. My friend who was going with me backed out. Would you like to go?”

Tina answered quickly, “FOR SURE.”

*****

On Friday afternoon, Max was hurting emotionally. He was nearing his 30th birthday. He hadn’t had a date in years. The one woman he had thought about was a lesbian.

Carlos had noticed his boss was mopping around.

At their afternoon break, Carlos said, “Max, I think you need a change of scenery. Why don’t you take the weekend off, go to Sacramento, catch a pre-season Sacramento Kings NBA basketball game, just get out of town and away from the olives for a weekend.”

Max had been oblivious to his situation, but when Carlos suggested it, he followed Carlos’ suggestion.

“Yeah,” said Max, “Getting away for a couple of days would benefit me.”

Max got on the internet, bought a game ticket, and reserved two nights in a nice hotel in Sacramento. It was only two hours to Sacramento, but it seemed more like two thousand miles from the olive group to the State Capitol of California.

He packed a suitcase with casual clothes and headed south to Sacramento.

******

He had reservations at the Kimpton-Sawyer Hotel in downtown Sacramento. It was within walking distance of the Golden One arena. He had left the olive grove with plenty of time and made it to the hotel about 3:30 p.m. He had a Sacramento Kings jersey that we wore to the game. He went to the stadium at about 6:00. Eating a hot dog and having a beer made this an authentic experience. He managed to get a good seat in the 6th row at center court.

He introduced himself to the fans near him, and soon, they all had a few beers and were ready for the game.

It wasn’t a good game. The Denver Nuggets jumped to an early lead. The Kings were 2 for 16 in three-point shots. By halftime, the Nuggets had a 27-point lead. But that didn’t matter to the six fans in row 6 at center court. They had a few more $10 beers and some pretzels and were having a good time. Three of them were friends and were regulars; the other two were buddies from high school in Eureka, and a few times a year, they met up in Sacramento and caught a game - and Max - who was just getting away for the weekend. After the game, they went to the Tipsy Putt for food and more drinks. Max was smart enough to switch to Diet Coke after the game. The three called an Uber for rides home, and the two friends from Eureka also switched away from alcohol after the game and were pretty sober by 11:00.

It was a short walk back to the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel. Max was hoping he could pick up a girl in the hotel bar. He had no idea how to get a call girl or prostitute. He sat in a booth in the back of the hotel bar, nursing a scotch and water, and watched the few patrons. A single woman was in the bar, and Max had his server send her a drink. She waved when she got the drink and came over to his table.

Somehow, the conversation switched to Max asking her for sex. And, to his surprise, she agreed to one hundred dollars, and they went to Max’s room. Max reached his climax in about fifteen minutes and thanked the girl. He had brought a wad of twenties just in case he could find a call girl. Max asked her if she was around on Saturday night. The girl said she could be back for one hundred and fifty dollars, and Max agreed.

Max couldn’t even remember the girl’s name as he fell into bed. He fell into bed and slept until ten o’clock on Saturday morning.

On Saturday, Max visited the California State Railroad Museum and Sacramento History Museum and took a tour of the California State Capitol building.

And on Saturday night, Max met up with the girl in the bar, and she stayed most of the night with Max.

And Max found out her name was Tina.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2023 - MARRIAGE AND FORGIVENESS

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2023 - MARRIAGE AND FORGIVENESS

I am amazed when I hear of marriage infidelity - the loyal person forgives the wandering spouse.

Let’s first look at the Lord’s Prayer / Our Father Prayer:

Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, Forever. Amen.

And let’s pull out the two pertinent verses:

And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us.

And the verse after the Lord’s Prayer from Matthew 6:14-15: “If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But your Father will not forgive your sins if you refuse to forgive others.”

WHOA - TIME OUT!!!

If - you forgive those who sin against you, God will forgive YOU!!!

But - if you refuse to forgive others, GOD WILL NOT FORGIVE YOU!!!

So, your spouse is unfaithful - he (we’ll use the male form here) has committed adultery - he has had sexual relations with another woman. This demands that you (the loyal spouse) forgive him.

The loyal spouse, in all sincerity, says, “I can’t forgive him.”

*****

But if you find that you are ready to let go and forgive, know that it comes with a slew of health benefits, experts say. Holding onto grudges traps you in a cycle of rumination, negative emotions, and stress.

Studies show that when people are in a happier state of mind, they take on a more empathetic and forgiving attitude towards people who have hurt them. Holding grudges, on the contrary, makes the person feel worse.

It is possible to forgive a cheating husband, but it is usually not easy. Before we think of forgiving a cheating husband, we’ll need to assess if it’s actually doable.

Here are some steps that have been recommended

YOU MUST ACCEPT THAT IT HAPPENED

You cannot learn how to forgive your husband if you don’t accept the truth of what has happened.

Being in denial can help you avoid immediate pain, but your relationship problems may eventually worsen. So, learn to accept that your partner has betrayed your trust because something is possibly wrong in your relationship.

*****

BUT ACCEPTANCE CAN LEAD TO GREAT ANGER

“YOU CHEATED ON ME - You Jerk.” (Jerk is not the strongest one - there are others.)

Yes, I have accepted it - and now I want to smash your brains in with a skillet!!!

Forgiveness means that you are better than this; you will not waste your energy and time holding on to the betrayals and anger, and instead, you will put that time and energy into recovering your marriage.

*****

A tough one - GIVE HIM SOME SPACE

Yes, you might want to hover - to watch his every move - he violated your trust. But, at some point, you have to develop that trust again.

*****

Another tough one - ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR PART

In most situations, the man strayed because you weren’t paying attention to him or nagging him.

Your partner’s infidelity could be a symptom of a deeper problem in your marriage. Both you and your partner may have ignored these because of complacency or your busy schedule. Recognize your contribution to the problem and work on fixing things.

Proverbs 25:24 - “It’s better to live alone in the corner of an attic than with a quarrelsome wife in a lovely home. Maybe it was only me who thought she was being “quarrelsome” or nagging, but maybe she should have considered it.

*****

START FRESH

Forgiving is one thing. You can’t forget you looked at the previous steps - now - reset with communication standards in place.

Aside from that, my wife and I attended a marriage weekend many years ago. We didn’t follow through on a daily (probably nightly) random discussion question (from a set of communication questions).

*****

Two notes:

(1) Yes, we divorced after 46 years of marriage. (2) Our communication was lacking. (I was scared I would have my head chopped off), (3) I did not cheat on her, and she did not cheat on me.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2023 - WRITING AND MORE

 THURSDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2023 - WRITING

I never thought I’d be saying this:  I LOVE TO WRITE.

I rearranged my bookcase, and a large, orange-covered, bound book ended up on my desk. It has a very long title, “THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF AN EXPERT SYSTEM FOR THE ADVISEMENT OF THE UNDERGRADUATE BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION MAJORS”, August 1990. Other doctoral students said, “The longer the title, the better the dissertation is!!!”.

I was told that a short title - like “Expert Systems” just couldn’t cover all the aspects - focus, focus. Narrow the topic.

WOW - 33 years ago.

I’ve never reread the book. I’m not sure I could. I have told friends, “If you have trouble sleeping, I’ll lend you my dissertation to read. It will put you to sleep in five minutes”. But - it must have been acceptable. I’ve been Dr. White since that time.

Dissertations are not fun to write but necessary in the academic field. They show you can do research and understand the literature.

I authored (or co-authored) over 50 papers for academic conferences and journals. But those would only have been written with a dissertation.

I wrote “Web 2.0 for Business Learning the New Tools”. It was a textbook supplement for the Introduction to Information Technology class and published by John Wiley & Sons. I think I made about $5 on this book!!! <grin>

After retiring, I wrote two Amazon e-books: Bring It On - Coaching and Mentoring for College Students - and -  Rebooting: Creating the Change and Career You Seek: Tools for finding new careers and jobs. (Aside last month, I got one cent from Amazon for selling a copy of one of these e-books!!!). Those are from my career as an academic advisor.

I wrote an unpublished novel - Redemption -in 2016. I’ve thought about redoing this over the years - and have two versions. It is set in Wisconsin at a University - with a professor of Economics who lost his wife to cancer and the Dean of the School of Business who lost her husband in Afghanistan - who end up together. (No, it isn’t the finest book around - but I like it.)

I’ve written short stories here on my blog and then some stories that got longer. Dan Jackson got to 15 chapters, which could be a great book.

Celeste got to about ten chapters, and Zach (Civil War) had ten chapters. Gottfried got to nine chapters. Ned had nine chapters. Max Zinn is at seven chapters now. Emmalee and Penny got to twelve chapters.

Some of these required more research than others. Zach had much research - dysentery in the Civil War, locations, and battle sites. It even had some Andersonville (maybe one of the worst prisons ever). I knew nothing about olive growing but started with Max.

Before I decided on serial book chapters on Saturdays, I wrote short stories. (And pretty much all “Pollyanna” stories with happy endings.)

This is from someone who “failed” Freshman Composition I and II in college. (I had three “C” grades - two were in composition!!! A “C” grade isn’t failing, but it wasn’t excellent!!!)

I have much better tools now. I love Grammarly - it finds errors and makes me correct or ignore them. (Probably 70% of my mistakes are in misusing commas!!! I should have paid attention in High School English classes!!!)

*****

So, it’s a mild problem. What should I write about? Are my weekly stories any good? Would anybody like to take just one of the stories and read it and help it improve? (And, others could take other stories?)

Maybe, like my dissertation, I don’t want to go back and work on them again. Perhaps I’d like to, but I don’t want to try.

I’ve run out of ideas for the daily blogs as well. I don’t want to tackle politics. I do give my spin on religion on Fridays. What might you want to read? More technology? (I’d have to do more research!!). More on health, aging, or relationships?)

Any suggestions?

(Of course, I could write about LOVE WINS - I’m very serious about loving one another, about not allowing myself to hate. I could write about how LOVE TRANSFORMED me - from a nice - but egotistical, judgmental male to a loving, humbled woman)

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2023 - MARRIAGE

 WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2023 - MARRIAGE

Oh my, Karen - how can you write about this?

Mark 10:2-10:

“Some Pharisees came and tried to trap him with this question: “Should a man be allowed to divorce his wife?”

Jesus answered them with a question: “What did Moses say in the law about divorce?”

“Well, he permitted it,” they replied. “He said a man can give his wife a written divorce notice and send her away.”

But Jesus responded, “He wrote this commandment only as a concession to your hard hearts. But ‘God made them male and female’ from the beginning of creation. ‘This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’ Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together.”

Later, when he was alone with his disciples in the house, they brought up the subject again. He told them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries someone else commits adultery against her. And if a woman divorces her husband and marries someone else, she commits adultery.”

*****

On Friday, June 14, 1974, in Mason City, Iowa, in First Presbyterian ChurchI said these vows:

“I, Bruce, take thee, Connie, to be my wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part, according to God’s holy ordinance; and thereto I pledge thee my faith.”

It was a solemn vow - a legal and binding pledge. I was 26 years old, Connie was 23 years old. It was a vow between us and God. Yes, there was a minister, but we didn’t pledge to the minister - but to God and each other.

*****

We made it to 46 years of marriage until Connie instigated divorce proceedings. Yes, I had changed, and yes, she had changed. We both had changed multiple times. Each new day, we were slightly different, slightly older. We were wiser - but that may not have been true.

I did not fight the divorce. I was not in favor of it because I had made a vow. But I had changed (and she had changed).

I was smacked with a two-by-four board, had a ton of bricks fall on me, and got run over with a steam engine. And, I say it was of “God”. I had been an egotistical, judgmental person, and I am being humbled and reshaped every day into a person of love, forgiveness, gratitude, happiness, and JOY!!!

BANG - My brain was different. And, when I acted on my brain impulses, my body also got different.

I don’t blame Connie - I was too radically different to continue. She didn’t want to be in a lesbian marriage (two married women). But the divorce happened.

My near family only had one divorce (an uncle), and the same with Connie’s family (her sister). When we married, we were married for life. That’s the way it was supposed to be.

*****

Many of the people I now associate with have been married and divorced. It is the norm. It could be old age - two people are no longer in love and thus opt to end the marriage arrangement.

I’ve read of “gray divorce,” and that divorce among seniors is higher than in other age groups.

Just “the way it is”.

I quoted Christian scripture - “Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together.”

I see Bernie and Barbara frequently at the nursing home. They both are in the 90s. Bernie is friendly and outgoing, and we chat. Barbara has dementia, and her brain is closing down. Bernie walks about half a mile daily to spend time with her. He talks to her, he walks with her (in her wheelchair), he holds her hand. Some Sunday afternoons, they (Bernie and Barbara - but 97% Bernie) talk with their two boys in different parts of the United States. It touches me that they are still honoring their vows of “for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part.” My parents were married for 70 years. (And, in love to the end).

Is marriage ‘dead’? Is love ‘dead’? Not in my opinion.

I have bought the concept that love doesn’t end. Love (and God) are eternal, God is infinite, and humans are not eternal and not infinite (in this world, anyway).

Carly Simon sang “That’s The Way I’ve Always Heard It Should Be” (1971)

 With the chorus of:
“But you say it’s time we moved in together

And raised a family of our own, you and me -

Well, that’s the way I’ve always heard it should be:

You want to marry me, we’ll marry.

But, LOVE goes on - in spite of human foibles and stupidity - and LOVE WINS.

LOVE does TRANSFORM US - if we allow it.
LOVE makes us stronger - if we live it

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 3RD, 2023 - HAPPY AND GRATEFUL

I have some choruses playing in my head. This is one of them:

“If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands

If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands

If you’re happy and you know it, and you really want to show it

If you’re happy and you know it, clap your hands

If you’re happy and you know it, stomp your feet

If you’re happy and you know it, shout hurray (hurray)

If you’re happy and you know it, do all three.

*****

Let’s face it - I am HAPPY, love life, love who I am, and love people.

Happiness is a choice. I can choose to be happy - and I do!!!!!

******

But today, let’s couple that happiness with GRATITUDE.

I am grateful for my many friends, my life situation, and the love of God that surrounds me!!!

Gratitude is more than just a buzzword. It’s a practice that improves your mental, physical, and emotional health. (Or … a similar word - “THANKFUL”!!!)

Let’s picture this:

You have a gallon jar in front of you. What are you going to put in it? We will pour in a magic elixir when we have all the dry ingredients. This concoction will determine your life. That magical elixir will take on those properties if you fill the jar with complaining and negativity. Filling the pot with happiness, gratitude, and forgiveness is the sweetest drink on the planet. (So, what will it be?)

So, let’s look at two ingredients today.

How to Be Happy With Yourself: 6 Tips for a Happy Life

Engage in physical activity. Feeling happy is a holistic practice that includes your body and mind.

Focus on others.

Identify and analyze your negative thoughts (and discard those negative thoughts).

Meditate.

Practice regular gratitude.

Remember short-term goals.

How can you be grateful - despite negative things in your life?

One author said this: “When we practice appreciation for the people, things, or experiences around us, we become more present and engaged with life and the joys and pleasures it has to offer. Gratitude interrupts the mental cycle of negativity bias, helping to decrease anxiety and depression and shift your mindset towards more ease. This positive mindset becomes a new habit with consistent practice, helping you experience more of the “good stuff.”

Like Happiness, Gratitude is an ATTITUDE -we can choose to be HAPPY, and we can choose to express GRATITUDE!!!

Gratitude Boosts Positive Emotions

Gratitude is Good For Your Body

Gratitude Improves Relationships (not just romantic ones)

Gratitude Makes Us More Resilient

Like the magical elixir above, happiness and gratitude are super H vitamins (H for Happiness). And they do boost your positive emotions!! Research studies have shown that gratitude can lower high blood pressure, give you better sleep, and strengthen your immune system.

“Gratitude can improve not only your mental health but your physical health as well. Studies have shown that practicing gratitude can lead to lower blood pressure, more robust immune systems, and better sleep. People who practice gratitude are also reported to experience fewer aches and pains and seem to take better care of themselves with more regular exercise and check-ups at the doctor.

An old hymn - Count Your Blessings:

Count your blessings, name them one by one;

Count your many blessings, and see what God has done.

People generally like being with happy people - if you are so glad and express gratitude, you will (typically) get along with people. (I’m not a big fan of cranky, irritable people!!!)

Love goes well with happiness and gratitude.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2023

MONDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2023 - Oktoberfest, Halloween, Entertainment

IT’S OCTOBER!!!

Ah, yes, October.  (I’ve been waiting for October for eleven months!! <grin>).

October is the tenth month of the year.  I used to worry (probably not the proper term) - knowing that OCT is the prefix for eight.  (or December has the prefix DEC for ten).  But I learned that the Romans started their year in March - so the eighth month with the prefix OCT is October.

October is Oktoberfest!! (Yeehaw) and Halloween (double Yeehaw).  It is (or should be) the end of the record heat days of summer.  Some places (not necessarily Texas) have “Indian Summer.” An Indian summer is a period of unseasonably warm, dry weather that occurs in autumn in temperate regions of the northern hemisphere. It's usually after a period of colder weather or frost.”

“The average first frost date in Austin, Texas, is November 5. The risk of frost is from December 6 through February 17. However, there is almost certainly frost from December 28 through January 23. The frost-free growing season is around 292 days.

“The average first freeze date at Austin's Camp Mabry is December 2. The average last freeze date is February 23. However, freezes have been as early as October 26 and as late as April 9.

I have kept my patio garden growing for a few years - bring plants in when the forecast is for frost or freezing.  Today, my patio garden has excellent Swiss Chard and some late-started green beans.

I will play at the Walburg German restaurant for Oktoberfest on three Saturday evenings in October.  We have two sets - a mostly German set and then a big band set.  (Our repertoire hasn’t changed in years - but maybe there is a chance of change this year).

I have two biases for performing in a beer tent:

  1. The audience isn’t there for a concert.  They like the music, but that isn’t why they are there.  They are with friends having a night out.  They will drink beer, talk with their friends, laugh, eat a bratwurst, and maybe dance once or twice.  They want a good time.

  2. We are “entertainers”.  There are many choices for entertainment.  A person can go to a movie, a ball game (this time of year, a football game), the theater, a restaurant, or even just stay home and watch television or see a movie.

WE NEED TO ENTERTAIN.  That can be a tricky thing to do as people are laughing and having a good time.  We can’t intrude on their evening.  We can’t demand they listen to us.  They probably wouldn’t come out without having some music and entertainment - but we can’t intrude on their evening.

There is another band at our location (Walburg Restaurant) - the Walburg Boys.  They are funny. There is a violin (“fiddle”) player, an accordion player (who also yodels), a bass guitar, a keyboard/guitar/other instrument player, and drums.  And they have humor in addition to their songs.  They introduce the band members. The violin (fiddle) player is a Native American, and the bass player is from Finland and doesn’t speak English. The accordion player is from Bavaria (for real).  It is humor - poking fun at themselves.

Our band doesn’t have a singer (and I think we should), but the house band sings and has fun. We are just “noise” in the background so people can sip their beer and eat their bratwurst, waiting for the actual band to start.

Analyzing your audience is essential.  I had humor that was appropriate for college students.  I had terrible puns and experiences that I shared that I felt prepared my students for the “real world.”

I go out into the audience at Walburg  (just me) to lead the YMCA song with motions or the chicken dance. And, at the end of our program, when we play God Bless America, I am in the audience, getting them to sing with me.  Some of my bandmates don’t like that.  They think I’m a “band person,” not an entertainer!!

I’d like the people to go home happy and satisfied - “A night well spent.”

*****

We don’t always go someplace to be entertained.  Hopefully, your church services are meaningful, but you don’t need dancing and prancing. There are churches with rock bands - but the emphasis should be on worship, not how well the band performs.

(Lord forgive me - my mind is picturing the worship service maybe seven years ago - where there was a trio of singers that seemed to me (an older person) to be like “Go Go Dancers” for entertainment first - and for worship to be second).

*****

And, at the end of October - comes Halloween.  Now, Halloween can have two approaches - fun or scary.  I’m a proponent for fun!!!  I loved my colleagues at Dakota State for getting into the swing of Halloween.  It is good to have fun (even in a serious world).

*****

Get your pumpkin spice “fix,” get outside, enjoy the weather, and have FUN this October!!!
