Brushy Creek Brass Band at Walburg Restaurant for Oktoberfest - October 8, 15, 22, and 28 - starts at 7 (in the back).  Our first set is German music, then the Walburg Boys and our second set (about 8:30) is big band music.

ALBUQUERQUE INTERNATIONAL BALLOON FIESTA - October 1, 2022 - National Today

My sister (from the Phoenix area), brother-in-law, niece and family are going to the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque this year.

Seemingly it is quite the show.  I went once to a much smaller show and it was colorful and fun.

Probably not very creative, but my Chevrolet Spark is called “Sparky”.Do your cars have names?  We once had “Betty Buick”!!

WORLD ARCHITECTURE DAY - Monday, October 3, 2022 - National Today

I like architecture - the graceful lines of a building, or some artistic flair.

We can only imagine the brilliance of the Egyptian architects and the engineering involved. Architecture is not only limited to buildings but encompasses every aspect of human life and is essential to our development as a race.

Can you remember your first taco?  I can.  It was in 1970.  I was visiting my sister in the Denver Colorado area and she took me to a Taco Food Truck.  (Back in the upper midwest, the Tex-Mex craze hadn’t occurred yet!!!)

INTERNATIONAL WALK TO SCHOOL DAY - October 5, 2022 - National Today

I walked to school throughout my K-12 years.  It was what kids did then.  I’m amazed at the cars that line up to pick up kids from school.  Very rarely did we drive our children to school - unless it was for early band practice.  

My father bragged about walking to school - and it was uphill both ways and always with at least three feet of snow on the ground!!!  (I think he might have added a bit to his story!!!)

We all come from some ethnic background.  I have German, English, Irish, and Scottish ancestry. My parents sent me to a German language class when I was about ten years old.  And, I am still working on my German language skills with Duolingo.

WRAP-UP

So here we are - October 2022.  I’m already thinking about my Halloween costume and how I can have fun (and yet challenge) with my seniors in the memory care unit at the senior living facility.  

Yes, I’m playing for Oktoberfest and a symphony concert.  What a great month ahead of us all!!!
