From an article entitled: Did the West Promise Moscow NATO Would Not Expand? It's Complicated.

“And so, more than two decades after NATO’s original 16-member Cold War composition was first enlarged to take in three former Warsaw Pact states, and with Putin poised to potentially stay in office into the 2030s, the past is very much present.”

“It’s the question of NATO expansion — an unhealed scab that, with Russian-Western relations at their lowest ebb since the Cold War, has been picked off yet again and is now bleeding into public view.”

It seems as if Russia (then the USSR almost to the stage of breaking apart) thought that the “West” (mostly the United States) had promised not to bring NATO (the North Atlantic Treaty Organization) beyond the borders of what was West Germany at that time.  

But, “In 1999, years after German reunification and the withdrawal of all Soviet troops from Eastern Europe, NATO admitted three former Warsaw Pact countries: Poland, the Czech Republic, and Hungary.” 

So, indirectly, Russia (aka “Putin”) thought that NATO (aka “The United States” as the main sponsor) violated the trust of Russia by accepting Poland, the Czech Republic, and Hungary. So when Russia is looking at Ukraine, Putin seems to think that NATO has overstepped its boundaries and commitments and so that NATO should “buzz off” in the Ukraine/Russia situation.

Another article from Homeland Security: Experts Suggest U.S. Embassies Were Hit with High-Power Microwaves 

“Some of the cases of the mystery ailment that has afflicted U.S. embassy staff and CIA officers off and on since 2016 in Cuba, China, Russia, and other countries most likely were caused by pulsed electromagnetic energy, according to a report by a panel of experts convened by national intelligence agencies.

The report’s findings are similar to those of another report released by the National Academies in 2020. In that report, a committee of 19 experts in medicine and other fields concluded that directed, pulsed radiofrequency energy is the “most plausible mechanism” to explain the illness, dubbed “Havana syndrome.”

“Directed energy microwave weapons convert energy from a power source – a wall plug in a lab or the engine on a military vehicle – into radiated electromagnetic energy and focus it on a target. The directed high-power microwaves damage equipment, particularly electronics, without killing nearby people.”

So, the Havana Syndrome seems to be a directed energy microwave weapon.  (Karen hypothesizes - so a high-powered directed energy microwave device could be directed at a bank, the employees become disoriented, and then bank robbers can rush in and steal money!!  Or, company A uses such devices to disorient employees at company B to get their competitive strategies.

Mexican Cartels Now Use IEDs as Well as Bomb-Dropping Drones

So, “The warring gangs frequently use homemade armored cars and drones modified to drop small bombs. But it would be the first time IEDs have been successfully used by cartels in Mexico.”

As technologies improve, the gang’s tactics can change and improve as well.  (bomb-dropping drones and improvised explosive devices to attack other drug cartels - and Mexican authorities)

He Spent 25 Years Infiltrating Nazis, the Klan, and Biker Gangs

This article gives a version of an undercover FBI agent infiltrating far-right groups:

“He is haunted by what the people on screen will do if their movement — and their moment — aren’t thwarted. Over months of interviews with Scott and his former colleagues, hours-long conversations with domestic-terror experts, and wormhole dives down fascist portals on apps like Gab and Discord, a portrait emerged of a nation under threat from a thousand points of hate. “We’ve seen massive increases in plots and acts” committed by domestic terrorists, says Bruce Hoffman, a Georgetown professor, and counterterror authority. “I and my team lay awake nights kicking the walls because there’s a million-and-a-half guys online plotting murder,” says Rita Katz, the founder and director of the SITE Intelligence Group, and the author of the forthcoming Saints and Soldiers, which tracks the rise of far-right terror in the age of Trump. “We’re in a business where we can’t be wrong once,” says Scott. “And there’s way more of them than us undercovers.”

(Karen comments:  There does seem to be a huge rise in domestic terrorism.  Just another thing to be scared of)

So, do you feel safe?  Russia is mad at NATO, high-end microwave bursts can render a person (or people) disoriented, Mexican cartels use IED and drone bombs, and far-right domestic terrorism is on the rise!!
