 FRIDAY, JUNE 10, 2022 SPIRITUAL THOUGHTS

On Fridays, I write something spiritual (as I view it):

ENCOURAGEMENT

There was Joseph, the one the apostles nicknamed Barnabas (which means “Son of Encouragement”). He was from the tribe of Levi and came from the island of Cyprus.

Hmm - “son of encouragement”.  I like encouraging!!!  (Maybe in my case we could call it “mentoring”).

Let’s look at Philippians chapter 4 today:

(6) Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

That’s encouraging - don’t worry ABOUT ANYTHING!!!

(7) Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.

I learned this as “the peace that passes understanding”.  

There have been a few times that I have experienced this deep, deep peace - the peace of God!!!  

(8) And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.

I’ve sung a chorus “Turn your eyes upon Jesus” - focus, fix your thoughts on Him.  

If you are frustrated with the World situation, forget the world, forget Russia and Ukraine, forget politics, forget crime and sickness and inflation - think about things that are worthy of praise.  Think of good, pure, lovely, true, honorable, things.  

(9b) Then the God of peace will be with you.

(13) For I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength.

(19) And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.

John 10:10b My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.

Hey - short and sweet.  You can do anything (verse 13).  God is going to meet your needs (verse 19).  Just keep your focus on Him/Her/It/The Force
