TUESDAY, JANUARY 10, 2023 - MISSION
Yesterday, I labeled myself as “an evangelist for the LOVE WINS philosophy”. Now I don’t really understand what that means, but - hey - it sounds good!!! <grin>.
LOVE NOT HATE

In the Baldrige approach, there are three basics:: MVV - Mission, Vision, and Value. For the next few days, I will be writing about Mission (today), Vision (Wednesday), and Value (Thursday) - but as it applies to us as individuals and especially at this time of year when people are thinking about setting goals for the year (or, “New Year’s Resolutions”). On Thursday, I will bring in more processes for evaluating mission, vision, and value; and also to determine quality.
I’ll try to wrap this in a “Total Quality Love” package (as a subset of Total Quality Management). (Somehow as I’m writing this, my brain is slipping into academic mode).

So, what is “quality’?
One online definition says, “the standard of something as measured against other things of a similar kind; the degree of excellence of something.”
Some businesses say you can get two of these three: quality, price, and service. Let’s say I’m buying a new television set.
I want one that has the best quality. The colors are great, the voices and sounds are great, the case is strong, and everything is “quality''.
But, I want one that is the cheapest price (or close to the cheapest price).
And, the third is great customer service. If I need to call the company can I get through the first time, will the representative (aka “rep”) be helpful and try to help me?
You might get two of the three - great customer service and a great price, but - a lousy product. Or great customer service and great quality, but - at a high price. Or a great product (great quality) at a great price, but if something goes wrong - too bad.
SO, CAN HUMAN BEINGS BE “QUALITY” PEOPLE?
Sure, why not? The amount of excellence in an individual. Can a human have excellence? Sure. Do you have some form of excellence in your life? How so?
We’ll talk more about vision and value in the next few days. I liken myself like two people in the Christian New Testament - Peter and Barnabus.
Peter the rash one. Peter. who gets out of the boat to walk on the water (because Jesus had invited him); Peter who said he wouldn’t deny Jesus and yet denies him three times. Peter says “Let’s build three tents (which Elijah and Moses appeared with Jesus). I’ve been rash. That isn’t necessarily a “quality” trait, but Peter was pretty dedicated to his leader.
Barnabus is called “the son of encouragement”. Now, that one is the “me I want to be”. I think I’ve been an encourager throughout my teaching career. A mentor. A cheerleader.
How does that fit in with the LOVE WINS philosophy?

Mission Explains your company’s product or service offering. It identifies the company’s core values. It is used to connect how your company's offering aligns with your values.
(And, maybe the hardest: Condense these statements into one. Make sure it’s clear, concise, and free of fluff.
So, let’s try this for a mission statement (first draft):
Concept: Karen White, Total Quality Love Consulting offers companies, groups, organizations, and individuals consulting in positive reinforcement, kindness, nicety, and agape love. We offer adaptive ideas and solutions underwritten by empathy and transparency.
MISSION STATEMENT FOR KAREN WHITE, TOTAL QUALITY LOVE, CONSULTING
Total Quality Love Consulting, encourages kindness, empathy, and agape love

It is short and sweet(?) - concise, clear, and (maybe) not too much fluff!!!
I’m using guidelines from:
