A lady opened her refrigerator and saw a rabbit sitting on one of the shelves. "What are you doing in there?" she asked.

The rabbit replied: "This is a Westinghouse, isn't it?"

To which the lady replied: "Yes, It certainly is."

Henry and Emily were driving down a curvy hill country road on Easter morning.  Suddenly a huge rabbit carrying a basket full of brightly colored eggs jumped out in front of them.  Henry tried to stop, but … too late.  He hit the bunny.

But, resourceful Emily grabbed something out of her purse and went and sprayed the dead rabbit with it.

She waited a couple of minutes and then, slowly, the rabbit started to move, and finally jumped up.  The rabbit went about 20 feet, then turned and waved; then another 20 feet and waved, and continued in a like manner.

Henry said, “What did you do?”

Emily answered, “I sprayed hare spray on the rabbit.  The can says it will restore your hare and give it a permanent wave”

SERIOUS THOUGHTS

Okay, time to be serious.  Chickens (and birds) lay eggs, not bunnies.  Bunnies don’t color eggs and hide them.  

As good parents, we took our kids to Easter Egg hunts and hid baskets of candy in our house.  As our two children grew older we dyed eggs and put designs on them.  It was a fun time!!!

I did buy some chocolate eggs about a month ago (and they were gone in about four days - I thought I was pretty good about not eating them all the first day).  

Easter time is springtime.  After winter (and up north, a “long” winter), a little foolishness is welcomed.  Easter is a time of renewal, of trees budding out, of flowers growing, of putting in gardens, and watching life flow.  It is also a spiritual time.  It builds on Passover for Jews - being freed from slavery in Egypt; and goes to death on a cross and resurrection for Christians.  It is a time of love, forgiveness, restoration, and growth.

Yes, I am one of those Christian people - who follow the concept that love wins.  “Now there are three things - faith, hope, and love, but the greatest of these is love!!!  Love one another, love your enemies, love your neighbors as yourself, love covers a multitude of sins.

However, you celebrate Easter, enjoy it, and find your meaning in it.  And let love win over hate.  Hate destroys (as in Ukraine); hate destroys (as in American politics); hate destroys in greed.

AND - for the local folks mark your calendars - the Brushy Creek Brass Band is playing in the Beer Tent at the Walburg German Restaurant every Saturday in May (“Mayfest”).  It is a fun time.  We start at 7:00 - but you’ll need to be there by 6:30 as it does fill up.  It is in the back (not in the main restaurant).  You can order food and beverages there.  It is also very family-friendly!!!
