WEDNESDAY, APRIL 27, 2022 FOMO
Probably by the time you read this, I’ll be on a plane going to Arizona. Actually, it might be a plane to San Diego, and then the second leg back to Phoenix!!! (Yes, I booked my own flight - five hours of flight time!!!) I’m leaving (or I left) at 5:55 this morning, with about 45 miles driving to the airport, an hour-plus for getting through security. I hope to sleep on the plane!!!
Today a little trip to FOMO - fear of missing out.
I find that I’m slowly growing out of that phase. I get ads telling me about the greatest products, the best bands and music, the coolest stuff - and - it doesn’t really reach me.
I haven’t spent that much time on social media for the past six months. I haven’t spent much time watching television (since I don’t have television). I don’t know what I’m missing out on - because I don’t know what is going on.
Maybe I’m getting older, and maybe I’m learning from the seniors I’ve been assisting. Many don’t know the date (number) or the day (Sunday through Saturday) of the week. I remind them as I visit them, “Happy Wednesday”. Of course, many of the people I visit at the senior living facility have trouble with their memory anyway. All the days just merge into one long continuous day. Two weeks ago “Oh, is today Easter? I didn’t know that?” When I dressed up for April Fools Day, “Oh it is April Fools Day?”.
I don’t think I ever was a dedicated FOMO person. I know a person who would watch the weather channel straight through as a hurricane hit land (or a major snowstorm hit the northeast).
(But, maybe I have a small ‘fear of missing out’ spot in me for sports. I did try to follow the NCAA men’s and women’s basketball championship games - so I would know who won!!!)

Are you a “fear of missing out” (FOMO) person?
LOVE WINS!!!
