SUNDAY FUNDAY - MARCH 12, 2023
FIRST
Today, Daylight Savings Time returns. “Spring ahead, fall back”.
And, a short story about not setting the clocks back. My in-laws were visiting and we were having a good time talking and just didn’t think about daylight savings time beginning. On Sunday we were up and ready for church - and arrived an hour late!!! (There were two services so we were early for the second service!!!!)
Of course, the hour between 2:00 and 3:00 a.m. is the safest hour to drive in the United States (since that hour doesn’t exist in most parts of the United States)
SECOND
Fun things this week - PI Day (3.14) on Tuesday, the Ides of March on Wednesday, and St. Patrick’s Day on Friday.
THIRD
March Madness is starting. I probably will not fill out a bracket this year. I haven’t followed college (or professional) basketball this year. I have followed Texas Granny Basketball though!!
Next Saturday (March 18), is a new Granny Basketball tournament in Sherman Texas - on the border of Texas and Oklahoma. It looks to be an exciting event!!
(And, college hockey is starting towards the “Frozen Four” championship!!)
FOURTH
But, it does look like the Brushy Creek Brass Band will be back at Walburg in May for Mayfest. We have stored our music, amplifiers, stands, chairs, and miscellaneous items in a van - and the van was stolen in the last few months. We have redone the music and will be figuring out how to get the rest of the things in order to play for Mayfest and Oktoberfest!!!

It’s getting to be baseball season. My friend Tom Capone posted this about baseball and life:
Sacrifice is necessary for the most crucial moments
Your brain is your most important muscle
You can’t do everything by yourself
If you love it, keep doing it
Keep your eye on the ball
Teamwork is the best work
Do your absolute best
It’s okay to strike out
Always swing hard
Aim for the fences
Cheaters never win
Never give up
We Missed International Women’s Day last week!!!
Imagine a gender-equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all #EmbraceEquity.
Celebrate women's achievements. Raise awareness about discrimination. Take action to drive gender parity.
We can all truly embrace equity.
It's not just something we say. It's not just something we write about.
It's something we need to think about, know, value, and embrace.
It's what we believe in, unconditionally. Equity means creating an inclusive world.
International Women's Day is celebrated in many countries around the world. It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic, or political.
Since those early years, International Women's Day has assumed a new global dimension for women in developed and developing countries alike. The growing international women's movement, which has been strengthened by four global United Nations women's conferences, has helped make the commemoration a rallying point to build support for women's rights and participation in the political and economic arenas.

Sometimes we lose sight of love, equality, kindness, and acceptance. We like to pit one side against another, one political view against another, one religious view against another, White against Black, (and even Longhorn against Aggie)!!!
Why do we argue and fight - can’t we work together to solve the problems of the world?

Enjoy Spring!!! I know it is spring in Texas as (a) the bluebonnets are flourishing, and (b) the school kids have spring break week!!!
LOVE WINS
LOVE TRANSFORMS
