SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 2024 - I WAS IN PRISON, AND YOU DIDN’T VISIT ME
A friend is in the Prison Ministry. He related a story about a young man serving a five-year sentence for some crime. During those five years (according to the prison warden), no family, friends, or neighbors came to visit him. He was counting down the days until the completion of his sentence, and he was getting out in two days. Seemingly, he had been a good prisoner.
My friend related that the black market flourishes in prison. The young man wanted to celebrate the end of his sentence. Through the black market - he got some pills to celebrate with.
And, on the eve of his release, he died from fentanyl poisoning.

Related in a strange sense.
A group is trying to get adults into first and second-grade classrooms and read with kids. The research shows that kids who don’t learn to read by third grade are going to be problem children - maybe into gangs and a life of crime - because they can’t read and they can’t think.
I’ve read with three first-grade children in the past, and I agree with the concept. If you district has a program,, sign up. (Non-scientific analysis. Many of us grew up in middle-class homes, and our parents read us stories at bedtime. But in single-parent homes and possibly lower-income families, reading isn’t so supported. There isn’t time as Mom (or Dad or both) work two jobs to support the family - and reading is a “luxury” that just doesn’t fit into the schedule).

I don’t know much other than what I wrote above. Five years in prison without visitors - and time to celebrate and he died. I don’t know if he learned a trade or had a trade before he was imprisoned.
“Lord help me LOVE all peoples - always!!!
