MARCH FORTH (MARCH 4, 2024)

“MARCH FORTH” - That’s an exciting day. When I think of “marching forth,” I envision marching bands or war - advancing on the enemy.  

But, every day, we should boldly “march forth” - as human beings. 

What do we do to “march forth?”.

We don’t even have to leave our house - we can “march forth” on the Internet - (maybe like this blog).  

I think that marching forth should be something we have a passion for. Do we have a passion for life? I am passionate about the concept of agape love - “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength, And Love your neighbor as yourself.”  LOVE WINS. And while I believe in the concept - do I practice what I preach?

Can I love everybody? Probably not. There are 8,019,876,189 (estimated) people on Earth. In generous terms, I probably don’t know more than 5,000 (and in less generous terms, maybe only 1,000 people). Some people might be receptive to hearing that we need to love each other, while others won’t be interested. They might be saying, “That’s a bunch of malarky”- I don’t want to love immigrants, I don’t want to love Arabs, I don’t want to love blacks, I don’t want to love Putin and the Russians.  

Without Supernatural help, it is even harder to love my neighbors. I’m in a building with twelve apartments - and I know only THREE people. (I do say “Hi” to others, but I do not know their names.)   Going even more radical, am I praying for my physical neighbors? Do I love my physical neighbors (in all twelve apartments of my building? 

I know I have offended some people by being “me.” There seems to be a determined effort to attack transgender people and determined efforts to attack people at our border seeking a better life in the United States.   I can’t stand in the gap for all the people who are harassed and demeaned. I can’t stand in the way of powerful forces of greed and avarice. 

So, I guess I’ll let “My Little Light Shine.” 

Matthew 5:13-17 says:

“You are the salt of the Earth. But how can the salt be made salty again if it loses saltiness? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, giving everyone in the house light. Similarly, let your light shine before others so they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

So, I guess I am somehow “Marching Forth” by trying to write some inspirational concepts. Does it do any good? I have no idea. Maybe somebody who reads this will say, “Yes, I need to be a nicer, more loving person today.” Perhaps this afternoon, as they are in traffic driving home from work and somebody wants to cut in front of their car, they will be nice - and arrive home maybe 10 seconds later.

I have a coffee mug with the statement, “If you can be anything, be kind.”

So, my friends, let’s be kind, friendly, and loving today!!!
