SATURDAY, MARCH 16,2024 -UNTRUSTWORTHY
I’ve missed my Friday spiritual writing - so today, I will write some spiritual thoughts.
*****
From The Gospel of John - chapter 2.
“Many people noticed the signs he displayed and, seeing they pointed straight to God, entrusted their lives to him. But Jesus didn’t entrust his life to them. He knew them inside and out, knew how untrustworthy they were. He didn’t need any help in seeing right through them.“
That was the Sunday Gospel two Sundays ago.
He knew them inside and out and knew how UNTRUSTWORTHY they (people were).
Hey friends, you can trust me! I’m always dependable- yup - that’s me.
*****
Well, I’m not always trustworthy. God can see our hearts.
One of the most dependable people was Peter—yeah, who said he would never deny Jesus, and (of course, he did). I say, “I love everyone,” and then I slip up. We trust our doctors, clergy, and teachers—and then we find they aren’t always trustworthy.
(We also learn from our mistakes. That is why I’m so smart—I make a lot of mistakes!!!)
Romans 3:11-18
“There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, and they have become worthless together; no one does good, not even one. Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit. The poison of vipers is on their lips. Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood; ruin and misery mark their ways, and the way of peace they do not know. There is no fear of God before their eyes.
*****
Yes, I am not trustworthy, Yes, my throat is an open grave (wow - such harsh terms!!). My tongue practices deceit!! Yup - my lips are full of poison.
Yowie!!! That sounds pretty bad.
I hope somehow that God, in His Mercy and Grace, can help me.
*****
But, God does have mercy towards us. His amazing grace is abundant towards us.
Romans 8:1 “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus”
(Aside - I write from a Judeo-Christian perspective. It is not my desire to cut down those of other faith histories. I believe in an infinite God (with over 8 trillion galaxies). He/She/It/The Force/ can handle that!!!
*****
So, I am back to my simple message: LOVE WINS
Like a breath from God - full of LOVE, GRACE, MERCY, and FORGIVENESS - LOVE DOES WIN.
AND LOVE TRANSFORMS US.
