SPRING IS COMING.  

Today starts Daylight Savings Time - so “Spring Ahead” with your clocks (you probably already did this - unless you live in Arizona).  Sunrise yesterday in Georgetown, Texas, was about 6:48; on Sunday, it will be 7:47!!

March has other days. March 14th is Pi Day. Pi is the value used to get a circle's circumference. On Thursday, March 14, I’ll have a special Pi Day blog with lots of math jokes!!

St. Patrick’s Day is on Sunday, March 17th - wear your green! (Everybody is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day)

The Spring (vernal) equinox is on March 19th.  The full moon is on March 25th, meaning Easter is the following Sunday (March 31st).  (Do you remember how to figure Easter?  It is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox.  Some Eastern Christians add that it is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox after Jewish Passover).

By the way, the March Full Moon is called “The Worm Moon”.  With spring in progress, the worms are out - and the “early bird catches the worm.”  

My uncle always said to plant potatoes on Good Friday.  Good Friday comes around the same time as the full moon - and the “eyes” of the potato will be attracted to the moon's gravitational pull.

March was the first month in the old Roman Calendar, which means that according to that calendar, October is the 8th month (the prefix OCT is eight), and December is the 10th month (the prefix DEC is ten—like the decimal number system).

Why are people tired on March 31st? They’ve been marching for 30 days. (Interestingly enough, there aren’t a lot of parades in March. But I’ve “marched” in the St. Patrick’s Day parade in New York City  many times)

What do you call it when your team loses in the first round of the March Madness tournament?  March badness

Why do kids love to trampoline at the end of March? Because it’s spring.

What do they call March 14 at Apple? Apple Pi Day

Should you eat pie on 3/14?  Of course, you should eat pie every day.

 Slinkies love March because it's spring.

Why do people walk faster after March 19th? Because they have a spring in their step.

What do car shocks, mattresses, ballpoint pens, and march have in common? They all have springs!
