FRIDAY, DECEMBER 20, 2024 - MESSIAH PART IV
TRIUMPH
The Messiah covers about 53 different Bible verses. Today (the last day for this look at the Messiah lyrics), we’re looking at the triumphant verses:
Luke 2:14 says, “Glory to God, Glory to God, Glory to God in the highest. And peace on earth, goodwill toward men.”
Zec 9:9-10 “Rejoice greatly, 0 daughters of Zion; shout, 0daughtersr of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: He is the righteous Saviour, and he shall speak peace unto the heathen
) Isa 40:11: “He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: and he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.”
Psa 24:7-10 “Lift up your heads, 0 ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is the King of Glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is the King of Glory? The LORD of hosts, He is the King of glory.”
Rev 19:6 “Hallelujah: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.” Rev 11:15: “The kingdom of this world is become the kingdom of our LORD and of His Christ [Messiah, Anointed One]; and he shall reign forever.” Rev 19:16 “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS, Hallelujah!”
Rev 5:12-13 “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain and hath redeemed us to God by his blood, to receive power and riches, and wisdom and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing. Blessing, and honor, glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. Amen.
*****
For those who have heard the Messiah performed (and or performed in singing or playing), it can be very moving.
The story is that King George stood during the Hallelujah Chorus!!!
YES - the KINGDOM of this world is Christ’s kingdom and will last forever. He is the KING of KINGS and LORD of LORDS!!!
HALLELUJAH!!
Yes, LOVE DOES WIN. ‘
Yes, LOVE DOES TRANSFORM
Karen Anne White, December 20, 2024
I have sung and played in the orchestra for the Messiah. In college, there were three colleges in WInona, Minnesota - (St. Marys - primarily men; St. Teresas - mainly women; and Winona State - a public institution. In my sophomore year, the three colleges combined to sing the Messiah. My roommate (and best friend GM) was in the choir and the band (and we had both been in the same high school choir and band). He said, “Come along with me and sing”. So I did. The Winona State choir director saw me (and knew me from playing in a brass quintet with the choir. I thought he might point to me and then to the exit (or yell, get out of the choir, White). So, I sang the Messiah music for the first time. Over the many years, I’ve sung part (chorus parts, not solo parts) or played tuba in the band.
My library has an online option to check out e-books, audiobooks, and music. I’ve been listening to (and singing) the Messiah music for the past two weeks.
Yes, this Christmas and every Christman, unto all of us - a child is born - a Savior - the wonderful counselor, prince of peace, King of Kings, Lord of Lords. I know, love, and respect those who aren’t Christian. (The concept is that “they march to the beat of a different drum”).
