SUNDAY JANUARY 2, 2022 - SUNDAY FUNDAY
Here we are - the second day of the new year. Did you survive New Year’s Eve? Did you watch the Rose Parade (to me, one of the “real” parades - not like Macy’s parade where celebrities have to lipsync). And, did you survive the bombardment of College Bowl Games. (I am writing this early - who knows, maybe I got to see a little football after all).
We are past the Thanksgiving to New Year’s Holiday binge. The next government holiday will be Martin Luther King day - Monday, January 17th. The next “fun” holiday will be Valentine’s Day on Monday, February 14, 2022. I was in a Wal-Mart the other day, all the Christmas stuff was gone, and the “seasonal” shelves were being filled with Valentine’s stuff!!
And, I guess I’m on my way to being a Southerner - as my neighbor brought me a container of Black Eyes Peas and some yummy cornbread!!!

National Days for January 2, to 9th
National Fruitcake Toss Day - Things Everyone Should Know (nationaldaystoday.com)
January 3, 2022 - The Fruitcake gets panned - but I don’t mind fruitcake (after all, some people have called me a “fruitcake”!!) Historically, it was a well-preserved staple that could travel to the Crusades) or ocean voyages. Yes, the commercialized version is probably so full of preservatives that you could still eat it in ten years!!!
January 4, 2022
National Spaghetti Day - Things Everyone Should Know (nationaldaystoday.com)
What a nice day. Everybody (???) loves spaghetti (except for the spelling of the word). I eat my spaghetti differently. Most people get a fork and then spin it on a tablespoon before bringing it to your mouth. Nay. I cut my spaghetti into little (maybe 2 inch) strands. I’ve even used my kitchen scissors to cut it down!!! Pasta includes spaghetti as one type of pasta. I remember going to church potlucks as a kid and Mom would make her spaghetti - and there were generally other spaghetti dishes as well - and (at least to me), Mom’s spaghetti was best!!!

January 5 National Day - National Screenwriter’s Day
Hey somebody has to write the plots of TV shows (and movies). Just think of all the brilliant TV shows - My Mother the Car; Car 54 where are you; Rocky and Bullwinkle (I LOVE Rocky and Bullwinkle); Gilligan’s Isle; I Love Lucy, and the millions (billions?) of hours of exciting television shows!! Some screenwriters have been excellent - and keep the show moving along.

WRAP-UP
So, what will 2022 be for you?
I tend to be the one that says it isn’t government that affects me, but I am the one that really affects me. In my world without television and limited news, little seems to reach down to me. Supply chain woes? I guess I’m okay. I lack nothing!! Increase in gas prices? Well, whatever the price, I need to drive. If prices get real high, I will cut back on driving. I can walk to the grocery store - probably good for me. Psalm 20:7 says “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.”
And, we are going to start the week with a couple of cold fronts. (By the way, weather forecasting has gotten so exact as compared to fifty years ago. Yes, it takes supercomputers and LOTS of data, but the algorithms have improved. Sure the forecast for next Friday might change by a few degrees, but the forecast for tomorrow at 6:00 a.m. - rise and shine and get back to work - will be pretty accurate.
Get enough sleep this year. Eat well this year. Adopt a positive attitude, don’t let hate get in your way!!!
LOVE WINS!!
