Prosperity Gospel #2 (What are the desires of your heart)

Prosperity Gospel - Part II

(Yes, I am back on a religious bend again)
So, yesterday I looked at the Bible and prosperity (what is sometimes called the “Prosperity Gospel”.  Today we’ll look at more scriptures.

Psalm 1:1-3
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”

Okay, again with a caveat “you need to delight in the law of the Lord”. - but the end results in “whatever he does shall prosper”.

Psalm 23:1
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
God provides for you - you shall not want!!!

Psalm 122:6-7
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls, prosperity within your palaces.”
Pray for peace in Jerusalem (and while you are at it, for the whole volatile Middle East!!) and love Jerusalem and you will prosper!!
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Philippians 4:19
And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
(Of course, my needs and my wants are different!!!)
James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
 3 John 2
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

Commentary
The ‘big’ two verses are the “Ask and you will receive” (Luke 11:9; Matthew 7:7, Mark 11:24, John 16:24) and “He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4)
So, to the theologians - is this what God really meant?  Ask for a million dollars - and receive it? The desire of my heart is a million dollars - and you will receive it?
The barriers seem to be “believe and trust in God”.  (Maybe like Deuteronomy 6:4 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength - and Matthew 22:37).
And don’t be wishy-washy “Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.” (Mark 11:23)  and Jame 1:8 ““A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways”.
The Biblical aspect of God blessing you seems to be built on belief!!.
Is this concept true outside of religion?  Is this concept accepted in non-Judeo-Christian backgrounds?  More on this later!!

Hugs!!!
