 SUNDAY FUNDAY - DECEMBER 5, 2021

INTRO

Hey - it is here - December 2021!!  The last month of 2021.  And, it is going to be an exciting December!!!

Just a reminder - “It’s not what you eat between Thanksgiving and New Year that makes you fat, it is what you eat between New Year and Thanksgiving that does that!!”  Well maybe so, but I made sure I had enough calories on Thanksgiving and the whole week just to test that statement!!

How was your Thanksgiving?  Mine was superb.  Yes, I did drive to Surprise Arizona to be with my sister, brother-in-law, niece, and her family.

It seems (at least to me), that trips need some adventures.  Going to my sister’s house, I stopped at the Guadalupe Mountains National Park.  This National Park has the highest peak in Texas.  With my agenda, I didn’t take the time to adequate hike anyplace - so put that on the back burner!!!

Then drove some less used roads to go through Safford AZ.  I was amazed at the cotton fields.  There is a town Pima.  Google tells me: “Pima cotton is the actual luxury cotton. Pima cotton is named after the Pima people of Arizona, America but it was originated in South America”.  Alas, I didn’t buy any cotton.

I came back on Sunday as far as Fort Stockton and finished the drive Monday.  I tumbled into bed Monday night and most of Tuesday!!  I was tired!!!

How was your Thanksgiving?  Lots of family and friends, lots of food, and lots to be grateful for!!!

HOLIDAY MOVIES

And, if you were at a loss for things to do, there are oodles of Christmas Movies

Here is a shortlist - and may not get your favorite - what is your favorite?

Miracle on 34th Street

Is he really Santa Claus?

Well, the United States Post Office believes he is!!!

It’s a Wonderful Life

IAWL focuses on George Bailey (Stewart), a small-town resident so riddled with problems that he is contemplating a Yuletide suicide. George's life is subsequently played out in flashback - George is about to throw himself off a bridge but Angel Clarence (a beguiling Henry Travers) gives him the chance to see what the world would be like if he did.

The Shop around the Corner (which was remade to “You’ve got mail” a few years back)

*****

White Christmas

Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and VeraEllen do a surprise show for their favorite World War II general.

And, of course, with a lot of singing and dancing

(And, with my last name, I always had a “White” Christmas in the “White” House!!!)

Home Alone (1 and 2)

It is Christmas time and the McCallister family is preparing for a vacation in Paris, France. But the youngest in the family, Kevin gets sent to his room, which is on the third floor of his house. Then, they completely forgot about Kevin. Being home alone was fun for Kevin, having a pizza all to himself, jumping on his parent's bed, and making a mess. Then, Kevin discovers about two burglars, Harry and Marv about to rob his house on Christmas Eve. Kevin acts quickly to stop the burglars and to bring them to justice.

One of my friends was an extra - as a member of the choir that was rehearsing!!

A Christmas Story

More than anything in the world, nine-year-old Ralphie Parker wants to get a powerful Red Ryder Lever Action BB gun for Christmas. Instead, his mother gives him a warning, and to get his hands on the ultimate gift of the holiday season, Ralphie embarks on a mission to talk to everyone--including his father, his schoolteacher, and even Santa Claus--into seeing things his way. However, Christmas Eve is just around the corner, and all hope seems lost. Will enthusiastic and single-minded Ralphie escape from the neighborhood bullies, his overbearing Aunt Clara, and convince adults that he is mature enough to get his gun?

And, if you can take it, there is something called “Holiday Shopping”!!!  (At least we are past the Black Friday sales, Cyber Monday Sales, and Giving Tuesday!!!)

Hopefully, you will be sharing Christmas/Holiday Cheer with others this month.
