GREETINGS!!!

HOLIDAY MUSIC TRIVIA:

Does every radio station play Christmas/Holiday music this time of year?  (I know they don’t, maybe just the ones I listen to).

I got the Sirius XM radio app in my car and I kept it for my trip to the Phoenix area.  I’m deciding if I want to keep it or not.  (The Grinch in me says I don’t “need” it).

I’m finding as time goes on that many Christmas Stations play less of the traditional Christmas Carols and more of the pop/contemporary Christmas music.  How many times in the last week did I hear “White Christmas” with Bing Crosby.  Good old Bing did love his Christmas music.  The EZ-Listening station plays his songs and Andy Williams, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, and Johnny Matthis.  And, occasionally there will be one with the true meaning of Christmas.

Let’s do a little trivia today:

Can you give the next line after this holiday song line:

Then one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa came to say: …

Bells are ringin' Children singin' All is merry and bright. So hang your stockings and say your prayers, ….  (hint - a singing cowboy from Oklahoma)

Chestnuts roasting on an open fire …

Frosty the snowman was a jolly happy soul With a corncob pipe and a button nose …

Sleigh bells ring, are you listenin'? …

You're a mean one, Mr. Grinch

You really are a heel,

____________________________you're as charming as an eel, Mr. Grinch,

You're a bad banana with a greasy black peel!

I’m dreaming of a White Christmas …

Traditional Christmas Carols

Joy to the World …

Hark the Herald Angels Sing …

O Come all ye faithful …

Away in a manger …

O Little Town of Bethlehem …

MUSING

Christmas has different meanings for different people - for some, it is a joyous occasion, for others, there might be some negative thoughts of lost family or sickness.  Yes, it is the time for giving (and forgiving).  If you have the ability, do think about a gift to your charity of choice this season.

My father loved to change lyrics.  As a kid, the line after “Then one foggy Christmas Eve, Santa came to say” was changed to “Rudolph with your nose so red, won’t you pull my little sled”.

And, maybe a little gruesome:

You better watch out

You better not cry

Better not pout

I'm telling you why

(My father then changed this to: Santa Claus is dead)

If you remember the Coca-Cola (Coke) commercial “I’d like to teach the world to sing”, he changed that to “... to sing in perfect harmony, a song of love, and peace and hope that comes from knowing me”.

BUT, above all, let LOVE SHINE in this season!!!

“Rudolph with your nose so bright …” (Gene Autry)

Hang your stocking “For Santa Claus comes tonight” (Gene Autry)

Jack Frost nipping at your nose

And Two eyes made out of coal

In the lane, snow is glistening

You're as cuddly as a cactus

Traditional

The Lord is come

Glory to the newborn King

Joyful and triumphant

No crib for a bed

How still we see thee lie
