LOVE WINS - FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2020

 LOVE WINS - FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2020

Okay, I’m sorry - more preaching today.  Come back tomorrow for my Saturday Story!!!

I really wrote most of my LOVE WINS yesterday as I asked us for a “Time to Heal”.

We all do have opinions.  We might be so sure of our opinions, that they are convictions.  If you have read this blog long enough, you know that I believe in an infinite God in the Judeo-Christian tradition.

My strongly held convictions are:  LOVE WINS, In everything, give thanks, Love one another, I am to love everybody - no matter who and how, I am to ‘go the extra mile’, ‘turn the other cheek’, and (maybe most importantly) LIVE what I believe (I fall way-short on that one!!!)

Yes, we have had a very divisive election.  If you can’t read between the lines, my brain changed when God touched me to become a woman.  Women tend to be ‘lesser’ citizens in this country.  While England, Germany, and other countries have had female leaders (Margaret Thatcher, Angela Merkle as may be the best-known examples).  We still are a white male-oriented society.  Recent years have seen some changes in that, but it is a very slow process.  Women in the United States received the right to vote in 1920 - with the 19th Amendment to the Constitution.

In the past few years, we have had toxic masculinity exposed.  As a female writer commented recently if a man is accused of a sexual assault and twenty women testify against him and he says he is innocent - all too frequently the charge is thrown out.  (Insufficient evidence).

Likewise, there is toxicity in the arrest and treatment of black citizens accused of traffic fines or other potential criminal actions.  It seems like an ‘animal nature’ deep inside of us that somehow rises to the surface in these matters.

*****

Psalm 20:7 says “Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God”.

At my last breath, the President, Governor, Mayor, or others won’t be there - I will be (in my belief at least) subject to an infinite being.  (I do hope and believe that at least my two granddaughters will be there!!).

1 Peter 4:8 says: “Above all, keep loving one another earnestly since love covers a multitude of sins.”

Matthew 5:43 says, ““You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. …”

[Aside - humor (I hope) - God sends rain on the just and the unjust - but the just people get wetter because the unjust people have stolen the umbrellas of the just!!!]

Without reason, but with some faith, I accept the concept that one person died for me.  I try not to rebel when somebody says “Sir” to me (turn the other cheek, Karen).  (Okay, I have quietly said “Ma’am” back a few times.)

I just spent some time in Jeremiah, in the Old Testament - a prophet of doom and gloom.  At times, Jeremiah complained to God (see: https://www.amiloper.com/all-blogs/2019/4/1/what-we-learn-through-jeremiahs-complaints/

He (Jeremiah) “pleads with the Lord, calls on Him for justice and judgment of his enemies and even accuses God of deceiving him.”  (pretty cheeky, Jeremiah)

And, in that blog, the reply is, “God continually calls Jeremiah to a deeper place of strength and trust”.

No, I am not Jeremiah!!  I am not a prophet!!  I am trying to live a ‘quiet and peaceable life”’

(I Thessalonians 4:11 “make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business”)

So, reiterating the last few days, let the healing begin, let open and honest communication and love begin, let us (especially those in the Judeo-Christian transition) let love guide us.

“Let there be peace on earth

And let it begin with me

Let There Be Peace on Earth

The peace that was meant to be

“With God as our Father

Brothers all are we

Let me walk with my brother

In perfect harmony.”

LOVE WINS

HUGS!!

Karen
