TIME TO HEAL - 1

 Time to Heal

Wednesday, November 4, 2020

I was talking with a good friend (AP) the other day and we agreed that we (the United States) are in a Civil War.

It is a Civil War where neither side is willing (and, really, can not) bulge.  The war has escalated over the past several months with the Presidential Election.

I am writing this on Sunday, November 1st.  This will be posted on Wednesday, November 4th.  The “experts” are telling us (and have been telling us) that the election is not over.  There are many (millions?) of mail-in ballots to count.  Of those mail-in, the two major political parties are fighting.  One side claiming that mail-in ballots are potentially fraudulent - (but with a not-so-secret-analysis that mail-in ballots probably favor the opponent of their candidate).  The other side wants to get this over with and move on.

Sorry people, I’m on the side of “let’s get this over and move on”.  I’m tired of the harassing of each other, the finger point, the rabid denunciations from both sides towards the other.

My particular bias is that if we don’t solve the real issue, the sore will fester, again and again, the sore will putrefy, it will always be in the background like a deadly snake in a corner just waiting for the right moment to strike.

The main issue is “abortion” - but that is the tip of the iceberg.  It goes so deep and can be so raw and personal.

To me, (personal bias - again), we are really very close.  We want good things for our families, we want a strong economy, but we also want to be able to get things that fit in our budget.  (In plainer words, I want cheap products from Walmart or Amazon - because I don’t trust American products anymore.  The business leaders of this country see me as a dollar sign.  They want to ‘milk’ me to feed their appetites.

My very limited view is “the rich get richer and the poor get poorer”.  The white middle-class families, while struggling are going to make it.  The black middle class barely exists and seems to be shrinking daily.  The whole police issue is still there.  “Defund the police” was a political argument in the election.  My viewpoint is that we do*n’t really want to ‘defund the police’ but to make a much fairer playing field.

My friends - we are living in a very closed world - where half the living creatures are predators and half the living creatures are slow-moving prey.  But, it is a world where we don’t dare allow the predators to eat the prey.

Instead, on almost every issue we are allowing ourselves to be polarized.  Environment?  One side screams ‘global warming’ the other side says ‘you are idiots’.  Social Justice?  One side yells “Black Lives Matter”, the other side yells back “Blue Lives Matter”.  One side says ‘these riots have to stop’;  the other side says ‘but WHY are these people rioting’?  Can we get to the bottom of our issues - TOGETHER?

The gun holders say “When guns are outlawed, only the outlaws will have guns”; and the anti-gun people say “ban guns” - can there be a solution?

One side says “we all must wear masks and isolate”, and the other side says “it is all baloney”.

Is there any way we can reach peace on abortion and all the other issues?

If the one side “wins” and abortion is outlawed, the sores on the other side will fester, the deep-seated feeling that women have the right to decide what goes on in their bodies is their choice will feel abandoned and alone.  If abortion is allowed to “win”, the one side will celebrate, and the abortion side will hurt so deeply, so completely and the scars will go deep.

And, knowing how things work, down the line when the “other side” wins the big election, and the side that didn’t ‘win’ before now is in charge.

Civil Wars exist all around the globe.  Satan smiles - hate is growing.  My friend in Belarus is in the midst of a real Civil War.  In India, the rich and poor are fighting.  In the middle east, Israel and the Palestinians are fighting.  Even Iran (following the Shia branch of Islam) and Saudia Arabia (following the Sunni branch) are at war.

So, readers - how can we heal?  How can we be friends (or at least pleasant)?

A while back I wrote, “walk a mile in their shoes”.  Can a dedicated feminist work with a dedicated anti-abortionist and understand their view?  (And, vice-versa).

I hope that honest, open, dialog can occur (because I am scared of the anarchy that could erupt if it doesn’t!!!)

LOVE WINS!!!

Hugs!!
