More Valentine's Thought (Biblical)

More Love Thoughts for Valentines Day

Okay, I got a little spiritual today.

From 1 Corinthians 13

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Really?  Love is not just “me”, but “you”.  (not self-seeking)

Hey - last week you didn’t take out the trash (no record of wrongs),

Not envious, not easily angered?  Really? This can’t be real - this can’t be for real human beings!!

I’m tired of you.  I want a divorce (but - love always perseveres)

From  Matthew 6
“But to you who are listening, I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you.

*****

Hold it - time out!!!  Love my enemies? Love those who hate me?  Bless those who curse me? Pray for those who mistreat me?

Hey - that is too radical!!!

From 1 John 2
Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister] is still in the darkness.  Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble. But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them.

What, I’m not allowed to hate?  But others hate me!!!

People (terrorists)  want to destroy my country - and our lives - and I have to love them?

People that say they are believers (aka “claim to be in the light) but hate me because of my gender thoughts?

And - (not quite X rated) - from the Song of Solomon - chapter 5
“How beautiful you are, my darling, How beautiful you are! Your eyes are like doves behind your veil; Your hair is like a flock of goats that have descended from Mount Gilead.
“Your teeth are like a flock of newly shorn ewes which have come up from their washing, all of which bear twins, and not one among them has lost her young.
“Your lips are like a scarlet thread, and your mouth is lovely. Your temples are like a slice of a pomegranate behind your veil.
“Your neck is like the tower of David, Built with rows of stones on which are hung a thousand shields, all the round shields of the mighty men.
“Your two breasts are like two fawns, twins of a gazelle which feed among the lilies. “Until ]the cool of the day when the shadows flee away, I will go my way to the mountain of myrrh, and to the hill of frankincense.
You are altogether beautiful, my darling, And there is no blemish in you.
“You have made my heart beat faster, my sister, my bride; You have made my heart beat faster with a single glance of your eyes, with a single strand of your necklace.
“How beautiful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much better is your love than wine, ad the fragrance of your oils than all kinds of spices!
“Your lips, my bride, drip honey; Honey and milk are under your tongue, And the fragrance of your garments is like the fragrance of Lebanon.

Have a blessed Valentine’s Day my friends!!!
Hugs and Love!!!
