Perseverance!!
Speaking honestly this twelfth day of May 2020, I
am getting a little tired of isolation and social distancing. I know my
friend (KB#2) is getting frustrated about this as well.
First, let's start with a scripture:
Galatians 6:9 “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we
will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
Don’t give up - don’t go screaming wildly out of
your house (or in my case apartment). Note, if you do go mad and
screaming wildly, there will be somebody there to gently guide (or forcibly
manhandle) you to a facility where you will be locked in and sedated and
probed. Then you will be sent a bill that will probably prompt you to go
screaming out of your house again!!!
Don’t be weary in doing good. That can be
doing good to yourself by being isolated from the germs seeking to lodge in
your lungs and kill you. You will be doing good to survive another
day. BUT - every day in isolation can be like another day in a prison
cell. (Not that I know how it feels to be a prison cell). I’ve lost
track of what day of the week it is. There is generally only one
non-canceled event on my electronic calendar on my phone.

So, how can I get a more meaningful life - and
persevere until normalcy returns? (I also have a guess that the new
‘normal’ may be a little different than the previous ‘normal’!!)
These are my thoughts today.
-1 Make each day unique
Draw out a grid and work on a week menu (then
you can grocery shop for your items)
Put some special on each day - laundry,
shopping, calling friends, doing yard work, house cleaning, and other
Put things you like on your schedule - jigsaw
puzzles, crossword puzzles, reading, writing
-2 Put exercise in your plans. Assume you
are going to be isolated another month. How many sit-ups will you do at
the end of a month? Squats? Lunges? Create another chart for your
exercise - and be faithful in doing it.
-3 Be a little better each day (1% better -
faster).
4 Learn something. Are you going to learn
a language? If you use Duolingo how far will you be in a month? How
about learning to crochet or knit?
-5 Do a major project - from putting together a 2000-piece
puzzle, to writing a book, write your families genealogy, write a poem a day
-6 Put up post-it notes around your house with
positive messages.
-7 Work hard enough to get good sleep (and not
just nap all day and be awake at night)
-8 From Stephen Covey “Seven Habits”, start with
the end in mind. What do you want to be at the end of your isolation
period?
-9 And finally - ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING!!
If you start to grumble, it goes downhill from there. As we know there are things we can change and things we can’t change. We can choose our attitudes and live a productive life!!

WE CAN MAKE THIS!!! The Sky's the Limit!!!
Hugs!!
