SUNDAY FUNDAY - OCTOBER 17, 2021

 SUNDAY FUNDAY

OCTOBER 17, 2021

“Be the reason someone smiles. Be the reason someone feels loved and believes in the goodness in people.”

“The value of surrounding yourself with positive people is not what you get from them, but how good a person you have become because of them.”

“Let's build a happy little cloud. Let's build some happy little trees.” ― Bob Ross

OPENING

What a glorious month.  Some remaining summer heat, cool nights, rain, still with sunshine.  (Daylight savings time ends on November 7th)

Harvest is underway in many places.  Plant in the spring, harvest in the fall.  American farmers do a great job with so many things.  Farmers in the upper midwest raise corn and soybeans - and feed cattle and other animals.  I hope you’ve had the opportunity to drive miles after miles of corn, and agricultural products.

Corporate farming is more evident than in the past.  Where farmers once fed a small number of people, modern farming with technology, large farms, big equipment, irrigation, and techniques make modern farms feed multitudes.

(Thanks Farmers!!!)

PUZZLES

You are driving alone in your sports car on a stormy night.  You come upon a bus stop and there are three people there.

  • An old lady looking as she is on death’s door

  • An old friend who once saved your life

  • The perfect partner you have dreamed about all your life

There is room for only one in your car.  How do you proceed?

****

There are six eggs in a basket.  Six people come and take one egg - and yet there is one egg in the basket.  How is this so?

****

A man lived alone for many years.  The only interaction was when somebody brought his food.  One dark night, during a terrible gale, he turned out his light and went to bed.  In the morning, it was discovered that because of him many people died.  How can this be?

****

One spring day, two children found three chunks of coal, a carrot, a hat, and a scarf lying on the ground.  Why are these items there?

*****

A police officer saw a truck driver going the wrong way on a one-way street - and didn’t stop him.  Why not?

NATIONAL DAYS

*****

NATIONAL MULLIGAN DAY - October 17, 2021 - National Today

Everyone deserves a second chance. This October 17, celebrate National Mulligan Day and enjoy the comfort in knowing that if at first, you don’t succeed, you’ll get another crack at it. Though often associated with getting a “freebie” after a less than desirable golf shot, National Mulligan Day applies to any undertaking in which you would care for a “do-over.” Mulligans are for those with the determination to fight through the adversity of the mishaps of life. Let’s be honest — we all need a mulligan from time to time.

SAD STORY:

The Pillsbury Doughboy died last week of yeast infection and complications from repeated pokes in the belly.

He was 71.

Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin.

Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch.

The gravesite was piled high with flours.

Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded.

Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes.

Despite being a little flaky at times, he still, as a crusty old man, was considered a roll model for millions.

Doughboy is survived by his wife, Play Dough; two children John Dough and Jane Dough; plus they had one in the oven.

He is also survived by his elderly father Pop-Tart.

The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

*****

Daylight savings ends on November 7th, so enjoy the lovely evening sunlight for a few more weeks!!!!

LOVE WINS!!!

ANSWERS:

You are driving alone in your sports car on a stormy night.  You come upon a bus stop and there are three people there.

You should give the car keys to the old friend who saved you and have him drive the old lady to the hospital, and you can stay at the bus stop with the perfect partner.

****

Six eggs - the last person took the last egg and kept the basket too.

****

For the man who lived alone was a lightkeeper at a lighthouse.  When he turned off his light, ships crashed in the rocks.

****

The coal, hat, carrot were used on a snowman and when the snow melted, these things survived.

*****

The truck driver was walking on the one-way street.  (I’ve gone the wrong way on Fifth Avenue in New York City several times during the St. Patrick’s Day parade.).
